Wilmington Police Department (WPD) announced on June 3 that they have arrested 29-year-old Darius Robinson in connection with a shooting that damaged multiple vehicles on Metting Road. Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert at approximately 8:00 PM on May 25, discovering at least 12 bullet holes in four parked cars after nearby residents reported hearing gunfire.

According to WPD, Robinson was identified through surveillance footage and ballistic evidence collected at the scene. Detectives executed a search warrant at a residence on Joyce Street on June 2, where they recovered a 9 mm handgun matching shell casings found on Metting Road. Robinson was taken into custody without incident and charged with four counts of malicious damage to property and one count of discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle—felonies that, if convicted, carry up to 10 years in prison.

Deputy Chief Linda Harper emphasized that no injuries were reported, but the reckless nature of the shooting posed a serious risk to public safety. “Firing into a crowded parking area is unacceptable and could have easily resulted in fatalities,” she stated. WPD investigators continue to review evidence to determine whether Robinson acted alone or as part of a group, and they are urging anyone with additional information or video footage from the area to contact the department’s violent-crimes tip line.
