On the evening of June 1, 2025, Wilmington Police Department (WPD) officers conducted a routine traffic stop on Princess Place Drive, leading to the arrest of 33-year-old Harvey Snyder of Wilmington. According to WPD, Snyder attempted to flee on foot when officers approached his vehicle, prompting a brief foot pursuit before he was taken into custody without further incident.

During a search incident to the arrest, officers discovered methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and packaging materials on Snyder’s person. Investigators also located a stolen 9 mm handgun concealed near his bicycle, which matched shell casings recovered at prior crime scenes.

WPD charged Snyder with multiple felonies and misdemeanors, including:

Felony possession of a stolen firearm

Larceny of a firearm

Carrying a concealed weapon (gun)

Manufacture of marijuana

Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver (PWIMSD) marijuana

Maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances

Possession of methamphetamine

Possession of a Schedule III controlled substance

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Failure to heed lights/siren

Resist/delay/obstruct law enforcement

Snyder was held under an $81,200 secured bond at the New Hanover County Detention Center. Investigators noted that the combination of narcotics and a stolen firearm significantly elevated the gravity of the charges.

Deputy Chief Linda Harper emphasized that traffic stops remain a critical tool in disrupting the flow of illicit substances and illegal firearms into the community. She urged residents to report any tips related to suspected drug or weapons activity to WPD’s anonymous tip line.
